Spring is in the air! As we Stampin’ Up! Demos say ‘Whoo-Hoo!!" We had a beautiful Saturday here in Randolph. I am so motivated!! I have so many cards to share with you that I’ve made these past few days! But here’s the first. You’ll just have to wait for the next ones.
I just learned a new "technique" and it is actually pretty cool! Well, if you like origami or making paper airplanes!! (wink)
It is called the Dahlia fold. I’ve only made some "buds" using this technique, but it’s actually quite fascinating the effect it creates.
The larger flower is three buds, the flower to the right is two buds and the smallest flower, down below is one bud. I bet you think this is hard to do. Well It is not very hard at all nor, is it time consuming. (Unless of course you make a full dahlia.) You need only two or three different sized circle punches, your preference. I used 1", 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" punches. You can also use the Scallop punch for a different effect.
Recipe:
Embrace Life Stamp Set
Ginger Blossoms DSP
River Rock Card Stock
Groovy Guava Card Stock
Ruby Red Card Stock
Wild Wasabi Stampin Pad
Wild Wasabi DSP
1", 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" circle punches
The buds were all made using the 1-1/4" circle punch. The rest of the punches were used for the green bud bases. You can actually see the full tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.com.
Happy Stamping!
